“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Birthday Palooza for a King

Hello again!!
The day has arrived!
I woke up today, feeling like it's MY birthday! 😀
The first thing I do is put on a movie..
Guess which one!

Afterwards we watched
Creepshow
Cat's Eye
then Pet Sematary

If this is the first time you have visited one of my
Stephen King Blog parties,
I'll give you a quick run down on why he means so much to me.
Three simple words..
He's Always There.
.......................................
good times and bad times..
His words are in my head and in my heart.
 ............................................
I'm grateful for the times he takes my hand and leads me through the darkness,
and for the times I take his hand & find myself back in the light.

.............................................
So, with that being said, let's get to the party.
oh oh! Looks like we will have to go through
the closet door to get there...
It might be dark at first, just stay close.

It's just the boogeyman..he's okay, he likes to talk:)

Everyone is here:
(Side note..Helena and I created all the art here, mainly with recycled items
These puppets were made out of old egg cartons and newspaper)

Zelda 2

Mr. Barlow says hello!
(chocolate milk bottle)

The Annie Wilkes are here, one even brought her favorite book!
(These are empty tea bottles)

  The Manglers arrived just now...
(empty cardboard cake and brownie boxes)

And look! General and the troll returned this year..
they're taking a selfie:)
(the troll is an old sock, Rigby is an old cat haha!
Group photo with Mr. Barlow..

he doesn't photograph very well:)

Careful..you don't want to get too close to the sewer do you?...

Everything is set up..
Decorations...

Aunt Sylvia is a guest, but wants to be considered a decoration.
(she's made entirely of newspaper.

Games....
(old poster board that was getting thrown out)

Food...

Pig's Blood punch

Langolier cookies

Langolier cookies at night:)

.......................................................................................
Last year I wrote about how I kept having dreams
about dancing the Tango with Stephen King..
I don't know why!!
well, I created a little digital art to go along with that
and since I've had this dream a few more times This year,
I thought I'd share it again.

Thanks again for stopping by..I hope you had as much fun as we did!!

  1. Fabulous! You guys did a super job with all the art work. Love all the ATCs especially the black cat Pet Semetary. My favorite King book is The Shining though I hated the movie with Jack Nicholson. My first date with Himself was to see the movie, Christine. Thank you for such an imaginative and enjoyable party.

  2. Oh, and I made your 2 ingredient Pumpkin Spice cupcakes frosted with Cream Cheese frosting. The goodies are my snack to share at the calligraphy guild Celtic Knot workshop. The Young One taste tested one and pronounced it really good. So thanks for the recipe!

  3. What a cool party! Happy Birthday, Mr. King.
His work scares the crap out of me. I think my favorite book is Insomnia.

  4. I was looking for a photo of my first cat, Dog. Dog was my co-pilot. But seriously, it must be in my wet basement and possibly lost forever. Why Dog, you ask? I had NEVER seen Pet Sematary, then some friends told me I had to see it because Dog looked just like the cat before he turned evil. It was true. That adorable cat you see before it turned evil could have been Dog's twin.

Of course, another favorite is Christine. I love how that run down Plymouth Fury turned into a show car. Evil aside, the beautiful car stole the show in my book.

Mt final story has to do with Cujo. I had some friends over one Sunday afternoon. I had rented Cujo and we were all sitting around watching it. I had already seen it, so got up, went into the bath and brushed my teeth. As I did, I got the idea to add more toothpaste in my mouth, get a good lather, then return just as the dog was biting away. I entered making a lot of noise. Everyone turned, saw me, and screamed. I couldn't help myself. It was SO funny.

BTW, I loved the Dead Zone, too, and was saddened when it was canceled. Thanks for holding and hosting this fun, fun party for the King.

I have to admit though (please don't hate me) I am not a fan of his work.

  8. You went all out for the party! Since I watched The Langoliers for the occasion I'm particularly drawn to those cookies lol Well, that and just being drawn to cookies in general ;) I also like ATCs, so their addition to your party made a hit with me :) I love the idea of celebrating a particular author like this. Fun!

  9. Oh my dear, your parties are smashing! The last time I visited Salem's Lot/Jerusalum's Lot I was a young lass! There were so many dishes to sink your teeth into in those days! Now I must be off on my broomstick! Toodles!

  10. Wow! You and Helena really know how to throw a party! Loved all your artwork and decorations, especially the direction sign using the names of his books. Such a clever idea. It was fun following all the links, too. The Dr. Harper reference really had me stumped. Glow in the dark Langolier cookies, yum!

  13. It looked like it was a lot of fun. My favorite is the fire starter drawing and the cookies with the fangs. I never did do my little thing I wanted. There's always next year. Thanks for making his birthday fun.
