“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Spooky Monday

It's time for Spooky Monday again!!!!
I'm still recovering from the amazing Practical Magic party on Saturday! A great big thank you to everyone who fly over for a visit.
So now, lets brush off the cake crumbs and take a walk down yet another slightly creepy,(but mostly fun) path.
Look at this face!
He's one of the spookies that stays out all year.

This beautiful lady is my favorite.
Looks to me like she just gathered herbs and magical roots from her garden and placed them in her jack-o-lantern.

I got this book when I was four, one of my older sisters brought it home and it "got lost"..I still remember hiding it under the sofa!mwahahaha!!!

Anyhow, it has silly little recipes in it and the cutest illustrations...I longed to be her and live her life! and boy did I want my mom to wear a witch hat!!!

I want to share one of the recipes with you today!

See I told you it was mostly fun! Hope you enjoyed yourself and I'll see you later.

Thrift store finds

Goodmorning!
I love going to yard sales, but I dont like to go alone for some reason,so for the past couple of months, I've not been to any, Thank goodness for thrift stores!
Here are a few treasures I dug up last week. The little bowl I posted about on Saturday is right there.
I have a terrible obsession with cigar boxes, lol, so when I saw these two,I felt like I was moving in slow motion to get them!
This bunch of goodies was less than seven dollars.
I think my favorite piece is the bust, and the the fabric is really nice too, no fraying or rips.
So, I'm off to run errands and pick up one of my girls from school.
Thank you for looking....
Have a happy day!

Spooky Monday

Well, we have been getting ready for Halloween since July..I know, I know! I can't help it, I love it!!
We watched Some scary movies this weekend, Salem's Lot, The Shining, Carrie, and some silly Goosebumps DVD about huge ants...
My niece carved a pumpkin,

We made some snacks, which, by the way, were so good it was, well, Scary!
they are cake bites, and we used coconut cake mix and coconut icing, with the chocolate coating.....!
We have made these before and they were delicious, but this flavor combination was awesome.

Last week I mentioned the ghost that haunts our hallway...I captured his image before he could dissipate.

Oh yes, the pumpkin patch girl, she came to live with us many years ago on a dark stormy Halloween eve,she guards our bookcase all year.

One last thing, I got these slippers last week! forgive the dog hair, Carter, likes to lie on them.
This is Carter,

This is what he likes to think is his new bed,

Take a look at Wendy's Adventures in Wonderland for some more spooky fun!
Have a great Monday!

Pink Saturday

It's pink Saturday again!!!
I decided to show you a few pinks I have around the house.
I got this little bowl at a thrift store for 75 cents.

This birdhouse in in Helena's 'playground'. We found it at Home Goods:) when Paul was building her 'park' (as she calls it). I love how it looks a bit Victorian.

I put this teddy bear dress over a lampshade. It was bright pink so I poured alcohol inks on it randomly. It stayed pink, but I think it has a vintage look to it now.

This little one, I found at a yard sale under piles of old t-shirts and shoes for a dollar!!

Please visit Beverly at How sweet the sound for more Pinks.
Have a magical day.

April Paper Dress

Hello!
I have another catch-up dress for the Alice and Camilla dress up challenge.
Thank's for taking a look.

Fly away home

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who was born to someone that didn't care for her too much.
Not one of her moments was celebrated or appreciated.
One day, seventeen years after she was born, she decided she'd had too much, so she did the unforgivable and told the truth.
After much to do and ferocious anger, she was removed from that person, the same person that is supposed to be Home, and Warmth and Safety.
She flew away on a very special day, a day un-lucky to most, to stay with a slightly eccentric, very creative (I hope), often times paint covered, auntie.(Me)
Here in this messy-ish house she learned to sleep through the night, and clean her plate and just be a normal girl.

This is for Grace, congratulations!
May you live happily ever after.
The End.

Pink Saturday 9/11

Happy Pink Saturday!
I took this right after it rained,I love the way the water drops look like rhinestones.
We had a very special birthday this past week! unfortunately the guest of honor is working in Germany right now,so we baked him a cake and took pictures of it to send him.Since he had no choice in the decor, Helena and I made it pink!I got this at a thrift store for 2 dollars! it fits perfectly on Helena's little bed,it would still be perfect if Gidget hadn't ripped it a little..oh well, i can mend it.Gidget
I made another little pixie.. holding little twin hearts.God Bless the people that lost their lives on 9/11/01.

July Paper Dress

Well,I've got 5 down...!
Here is my dress for July...I guess I've been peeking at the tabloids while in line at the grocery store, and it seems like every time I look, there's another awards ceremony.
So I decided to make a Grammy/Emmy dress.
I used red paper, and ribbon . A bit of beaded trim, & red white and blue rhinestones for Independence Day.
For more paper dress goodness go to Alice and Camilla's dress up challenge!
Have a great day!

Creative spirit

Hi again, this is for the Creative spirit challenge On Cindy's wonderful blog.

Song lyrics were the inspiration for this.I used a record I bought at a thrift store.I sanded it down to remove the shininess. His arms are fiber trim. The legs have a 'concrete' look to them. The song is called Bed shaped,so I used paper with a sheet design.
I added the song to my playlist,in case you want to give it a listen.
Thanks!

Three Muses Challenge:Back to Nature

A couple of days ago Helena and I went outside and found a ladybug in a bucket of water,I took it out and when it dried off a bit I set it on her hand.It crawled all over her hands and arms,we couldn't take it off of her!
When I finally managed to get it onto a leaf ,she cried and cried because she believed it was her good friend.
This painting is my entry for the Three Muses Weekly Challenge. And a gift for Helena and her friend!

May Paper Dress

Another dress for the Dress Up Challenge at Alice and Camilla.
May isn't too hot here in the desert,We get a few nice evenings...
I used an old vineyard calendar for the main part of the dress, the picture made me feel like a cool fresh breeze was on my skin. The 'grapes' are pearl beads that were painted with 3D paint, then dusted with red micro glitter.

Have a beautiful day!

Spooky Monday

Pink saturday

Hello and Happy Pink Saturday to everyone!
I've always liked the color Pink, but now that I'm participating in this wonderful tradition,I've come to admire it even more,Thank you Beverly for inviting us to join in.
This lip gloss tastes like cotton candy. And I think the little tin looks vintage.

It's so amazing how large bougainvillea grow..had to stop and photograph them.

I made this little doll with paper clay, and curling ribbon.I had some doll arms that fit just right and I felted her wig.She has a picture of her beloved Mozart close to her heart.

Have a great day!
