“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

September paper dress

It's time for the dress up challenge at Alice and Camilla!
I LOVE Autumn.
I chose a dark blue to represent the deepening color of the sky.
The changing colors of the leaves is something we don't really get here, but I wish we did.I also think of bonfires burning on crisp fall nights,so the very top of the dress has small flames dancing.
Thank you!

I keep saying it feels so much like Fall, almost like I'm trying to will it here. Even though we have a little bit more to go,over at Wendy's Adventures in Wonderland it's already Halloween!!! well, not really but she having a Spooky Monday every week!
So grab your coffee (and your broom) and lets go take a look!

Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday to everyone!
I found this amazing pink dish at a thrift store for 2 dollars! It sits on my desk now, usually with bubble gum in it, but for now strawberry marshmallows have taken up residence...probably not for long either,They smell so good!

Bought this plant holder in a icky shade of beige/green,I spray painted it and added the flowers, ribbons & candle...I was going for a chandelier look ,didn't really get there, but it's OK.

Today the sunset was breathtaking,it was so so pink, I had to run back inside and grab my camera...I haven't altered this! It was made for Pink Saturday.

This next picture is just a little something that made me smile and give thanks for just being alive:
I was doing laundry and was in that auto pilot mode, you probably know which one..anyway
I just happened to looked up and I saw these flowers and decided to take a picture, when I looked at them on my computer later I noticed that one of the little buds looked like a teeny bird, just there for me to see like a little gift.

It made me feel so happy, knowing that in the midst of the ordinary there are miracles...teeny ones like this one that we need to look for and immense ones like Collette's one.
Have a magical, day, and don't forget to look.

Shrine

I bought this little mirror about 2 years ago.I liked it and knew I wanted to change it,but up on a shelf it stayed, until now.
I removed the mirror, and repainted the whole thing,(it was a grayish brown shade)then I dribbled hot glue, beeswax and a little bit of melted crayon to camouflage the designs which were carved into it. they were fish and weird leafy things, that I didn't really like.Plus I wanted a bit of texture. You can still kinda see them but they aren't so bad now.
Her favorite canary figurine makes it a little more personal, as do the flower seed packets hidden in the little drawer. The sleeping cherub was mine, but I think she would have liked him.
Ok that's it for now, see you later for Pink Saturday!

August paper dress

I know I'm super late with my paper dress for the Dress up Challenge it's almost September! But it's too cute a challenge to pass up, plus I have loads of time to work on my catch-up dresses now.
My parent's anniversary was this month and I decided to pay tribute.
I even used a bit of lace trim on the bottom that was falling off of my mom's dress.
Her dress was ivory, but she always said she wanted it plain white, but money was a factor for them when they started out,I have added a few white flowers in her honor.
Thanks for looking!

Frogs and Pancakes

Hello!
Very silly post tonight...but I had to write about it!
We went to Ihop tonight for dinner, I wanted pancakes but I didn't feel like cooking...anyhow,we went in, we ate,we came out to our car and this HUGE frog was right near it,maybe some people are used to frogs, but I'd never ever seen a live frog! Not even at a zoo or anything. It was so big! We got a picture and then it hopped off...I'm sure the people in the restaurant that could see us through the windows thought we were loony.I didn't care, all I could think of was that that frog would have done very nicely at the Practical Magic party next month!
Have a nice evening.

My mother's garden

This little girl reminds me of my mom, since she was happiest when surrounded by singing birds and beautiful flowers.

Here's a few old pictures of how some of her garden looked...she loved her sweetpeas most I think. She's been gone 12 years and there's a couple royal purple amaryllis she planted that still bloom every year right near her birthday.
