“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,

Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Rosie and Marlena

I read Water For Elephants last year and fell in love with Rosie. I started on this canvas a couple of months ago, but you know how life goes...one thing after another kept stopping me from finishing it.
To top it off Helena had a painting mishap and her cup of rinse water somehow exploded and landed alllllll over this canvas...unfortunately it was a dark blue paint that she was using so I had to re paint the pale yellow background...that put off finishing for another couple of weeks..
either way I'm done and I think my favorite part of it are the circus peanuts I made out of paper clay:)
If you get a chance to read this book you should! it's such a treat.
have a great night.

  4. What a beautiful, whimsical painting! I've known so many people who've read the book and rave about it. I've already seen some scenes for the Big Screen version, which is probably what I'll see.

  5. Marfi, I love it....what a precious painting! Glad to see your back...you have been missed, my sweet friend.

Have a great week and want to see more of your darling creations. BTW, I still get a giggle out of your little skelly dancing dollie..she brightens up my "Muses Corner" and really calls for lots of attention to that direction...I just love her!!

  7. you've certainly captured
the essence of Rosie & Marlena
    in your painting :D
i read the book ~ even before
i knew it was being made into
    a movie...i loved the book!!!
    i'm a little hesitant about
    seeing the movie...reading
    about animal cruelty and the
    sounds they make are totally
    different than seeing and
    hearing it in a movie...
    i'll have to wait awhile...
    but, then again, i've usually
    loved the books more than
    the movies anyway!!!
    BUT...very nice job on the
    painting!!!

I love the beautiful lady on the elephants head. How happy she looks, and her dress is so elegant as well.

You truly brought the circus to life on this canvas. I love it.

No I haven't read the book, but you have certainly inspired me to. I will do some searching for one.
