“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

It used to be this, now it's that

How are you?
I'm feeling great!
Just now getting ready for some
chamomile tea and hummus toast .
How are we in the middle of the year already??
This year has really gone by faster than I can believe!
I'm not a big fan of Summer..
probably because we have Summer weather
for about five months out of the year.
Although I do love our monsoons😀
...................................................................................
So have you been creating lately?
I bought a couple little ceramic mushrooms at the dollar store
and since I cannot leave things the way they are,
changed them up a bit & turned them into tiny fairy houses.
Think I'll get a few more and turn them into a village for our mantle.
Originally, they had shiny dark brown and maroon tops.

There's also a design team project to show you too!

Last week, the weather was actually incredibly mild, cool for us.
So I went for a walk at a trail nearby.
I spotted a little light bulb on the ground and immediately thought,
that could be turned  into a bug, lol

After painting the metal part with copper glitter paint
& attaching a Carnival Cupie head to the end,
I added cardboard wings
and popped him inside a clear plastic craft ornament that I had embellished
with metallic ribbon.

you can find adorable doll parts at
Lisa Kettell's Etsy
The ribbon and the craft ornament are from Dollar Tree.
...........................................................................................................................

Well, my tea is ready, So I'll leave you with this sunset photo I took a few days ago.

Have a great Sunday!

Let's play catch up

Hi
It's been quite a while since I've been here...
I have missed my little blog and my amazing friends.

This is what's been going on (the condensed version)

Remember when I was complaining about getting terrible leg
cramps last year?
I thought it was my back that was causing it,
because I had hurt it moving a dryer,
well...
In January I went to the doctor
and found out that I have diabetes.
THAT was the reason I was
getting cramps.
So I went on a diet, started riding my bike 3 miles a day
and reversed it...my sugars are normal now, I've lost
weight and best of all, no more cramps!!

Then two weeks ago my daughter moved into
 an apartment in Tempe.
She's going to Arizona State University this year.
I'm very proud of her but I miss her so much.
The house is super quiet...my niece moved there too,
so it's just me & Helena.

Here's a video of her singing
Bizet's Je Dis

Ive been working in my garden to distract myself
and I found a great surprise!!!
 baby pumpkins!!!
                                                             I didn't even plant seeds!

Toadstools in the corner...

overflowing buckets...

bright fuchsia bougainvillaea...

I also wanted to let you know that
I'm getting ready for Haunted Humpday
at the end of August...
If anyone has an especially creepy
scary story they'd like to share
I'd love to feature it!
Just send me an email.

well I think that it's for tonight.
I will be back in a couple of days with some
projects and updates on my gypsy wagon re-do,
and of course a give away or two:)

thank you for sticking around!!

see you soon!!

Rain, moss, stars and blossoms

It's a windy overcast day..
At 63 degrees, it's not cold but the intermittent rain that falls
 makes the temperature seem colder.
I sit here, in my little wagon with the door wide open,
to better feel the breeze,
to breathe in the incredible energy that this magic day brings.
I love to sit in here and let my mind wander.
The colorful sheets and curtains I have hanging right outside
fly around and
 snap sharply..

Music from the many wind chimes
masks the whistling the winds makes as it dances
over the trees.
(As a child I was terrified of that whistling/ howling sound. In my mind it was a
giant invisible monster that would whirl you up and gobble you down.)

It was warm last week... Hot even, high 80s.
Since my dad has gone, I've found myself outdoors more often.
Raking, watering, talking to the plants and trees,
letting the smell of wet soil
and warm sun push the sadness away.

I've been creating some garden art lately...

 Metal mushrooms,
made from an old bowl and a dollar store waste basket...

 Spoon and fork wind chimes
from yard sale utensils ..

and a tin fairy house covered in moss
(also a yard sale find)
 are the products of my
imagination right now...

Oh! As I write this, I hear the drops tapping away at the roof..
sounds so
incredible!
:)
For years the garden was dormant
I thought a lot of the trees would have to come down, dry as they were,
no amount of watering seemed to help.
They all seemed to be in a weird period of waiting... Wondering .
Now everywhere I look new life is springing up..

An orange tree covered in blossoms and bright green leaves
Pomegranate.
mulberry,
 grapefruit
 and lime trees
 all pushing forth
beautiful delicate growth.

And look at this tree...it's just gorgeous!!

Last week as I pulled weeds and dodged bees I realized
that I'm grateful
for
everything
I have
and for the promise of what's to come.
(I think the universe heard
my word of the year...)
Blossom!

Now as the day begins to melt away
the chill really starts to build..
how was is so hot last week!?
This weather is so bizarre.
It's getting cold in this gypsy wagon...time to go inside I think..
gonna make a cup of cinnamon tea
to warm up.
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read my ramblings.
drop by soon
I'm going to have a 4 year blog anniversary giveaway!!!

A thank-you-give-away

 Hi, how's everyone?

Right near the fourth of July, I hurt my back...compressed nerve is what it is.
I could barely walk.
I'd either sit at my desk or lie on the bed,
&  lying on the bed wasn't very comfy either.
I would cry with frustration
at not being able to reach for a bottle of water
or walk from the bedroom to the living room.
Luckily I had you all to keep me company
and preserve my sanity.
Your comments are awesome!!

I'm not really super outdoorsy
(especially during the summer)
but I couldn't wait to get out there!!
Since I was feeling a little better....
& after weeks of not leaving my bedroom,
I ventured outside a couple days ago.
Everything looked so bright!!

I was able to save this beautiful butterfly from Magnus' wading pool,

It was very grateful (I'm sure) and flew over to say 'thank you' before flying away.

Oh!I got to watch 'The Conjuring' the next day!
it was awesome.
When we got home the girls made marshmallow treats.

And you know what was neat?
It was raining the whole time!

Not being able to do anything for so long made me especially
grateful for little moments...
it's hard to believe how much we take
for granted sometimes!

I couldn't even pick up my pup and now he's too
heavy for puppy cuddles!
but that's alright cause he's able to jump up
on the sofa for smooches.

OK, so like I said, I'm feeling better
and I promised you a give away!
it's not huge just a little thank you
to you all, for coming to visit
and not forgetting me:)

so just leave me a comment and you will have a chance to
win
a silly little mushroom wand!

and a couple other surprise treats, I promise:)
I'll choose a winner
on Thursday.

I hope you have a very happy weekend,
and you savor the little moments.

take care!

A New Year

Hi! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
I've been absent from my blog for so long it seems....we've had a bit of a struggle these past few months. Ive been ill since the end of October, with a cold that comes and goes, makes breathing quite difficult at times. Other things have also been going on that are both frightening and sad.
What can I say, it was a rough year.
(A big thank you to the amazing lovelies that stuck around)
But I'm getting better, feeling hopeful and I'm anxious to get back into the land of blog once again.

Lot's of people have an affirmation or word for the year,
But I can't decide on just one though..how about:

Magical....
or Glittery....
Maybe sweetness....?
Wonder...
Fairyland?
oooh!I know!Magical-glittery-sweet-wonderful-fairyland!!
That's how I want my year to be.

Have you all picked your word or words?I'd love to hear them.

Happy New year to everyone, may this year be an improvement from last.
& may you achieve your own magical glittery sweetness!

See you soon,
Marfi

Fairy Shoe Challenge

It's time for the fairy shoe challenge at Frosted Petunias!
I hope you're ready!

What have the fairies planned for the midsummer festivities?
Let's take a peek...
We'll have to be extra quiet so as not to spook them..
We have to shimmy up a tree,
and slip behind those mushrooms..

It's all decorated!

Oh!I see dancing fairies and...

Flying fairies..

A bewitched creature twirling by a tree..

Some fairy food...

Is that a love potion?Be careful...

And underneath a flowering pomegranate tree.....

The fairy queen's shoes...

Time went by so fast!We have to go back now...the sun is coming up...

But when you get home leave me a comment and you'll have a chance at winning the fairy love potion and some other little treats:)

Thank you Anna for hosting this challenge...I can't wait till the Autumn one!
