this week is
BLACKBIRD
"Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all.
Their feathers
are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild.
So you let them go, or
when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you.
And
the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first
place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more
drab and empty for their departure.”
-Stephen King
This makes me think of Stacy, from Magic Love Crow. And of the rooks in Bellman & Black, but Daniel Setterfield. Love the image and the quotes you chose to pair it with.

So beautiful! Adore your collage and the bitter-sweet words of Mr King! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Marfi,
ReplyDeleteJust adore that vintage photo of the beautiful lady and the bird. I don't believe in caging animals so I really liked this.
Hugs, Lynnie
Sweet words...... Sweet photo...
ReplyDeleteAnd what a joy to come to your blog... To be greeted with a gently whimsical Header. And a lovely natural green Background. I really appreciate this, after visiting a couple of blogs, where I was greeted by much, much too vibrant-a-pink. -sigh-
Now I'm sure the ladies who have such, love the look of their blogs. If not, why would they persist with much, much too vibrant-a-pink look?
But though I dearly love Pink, I do not dearly love a much, much too vibrant-a-pink. And I certainly can't say this, in their blogs! Each blog can be exactly what the owner wants.
But I can say it here!!!!!!!!! ,-) As a delighted compliment to you! Thank you! I was able to get this "out of my system," too! -grin- I'm just not too "good" at, keeping things "in my system". >,-)
Tessa~
I imagine that is what it feels like when your kids move out.
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing these day, Marfi? I don't see you around in the blog world very often.
Beautiful! The quote is perfect. I have always been drawn to blackbirds...crows, ravens. Your collages are always magical!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, my friend, indeed. I'm one of those free-spirited blackbirds, and so is our son. Both of us have the need to live without expectations put on our shoulders, otherwise we suffocate...and typically rebel. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping by early this morning because I was just thinking of my dad. Next thing I knew your name came to mind. :)
Stay in touch.
xoxo
So beautiful...gorgeous creation...magical and soulful!
