Do you believe in fairies?
I do!
Not only because it's a wonderful diversion from
a sometimes mundane life...
But because, last year, during this month,
I saw one!!!
no kidding!
I was running walking outside to our clothesline
(no fancy-pants dryer for us....it's Arizona! we don't need one!!)
it was about 2 p.m. & overcast
I was avoiding any and all bugs...
not gonna lie, I don't like them
my hair is dark, wavy and long
(perfect habitat for dark, wavy legged creatures)
To deter bugs, I usually go outside
like this:
eyes squinted, arms akimbo, legs pumping manically .
(it's exhausting)
you should see the way the mailman looks at me!
lol,
Anyhow, on this particular day, it was too hot to bother.
Bug's be damned.
I walked outside like a regular human
& a little bright blue-white light flew passed me
Instinctively, I went into swatting mode
but before I could start swinging my arms
the light flew back towards me
right up to my face
I couldn't tell you what it looked like...
other than a tiny light floating in front of me.
it didn't buzz
it didn't move like an insect
it didn't fly up my nose or in my hair
there wasn't a figure, buggish or otherwise, to it.
It flew in front of me a few feet then zoomed off into the trees.
(wish I'd had my camera with me)
no one believes me...
you believe me don't you?
Well, whether you do or you don't the whole reason for this post
is because I wanted to show you some fairy books I have.
(I just got distracted describing my defensive bug walk/fairy sighting.)
Okay....
This one is so neat!
It has gorgeous artwork and several different fairy-tales,
including one of my favorites...
Tam Lin.
Helena has been itching to play with this book.
It even has a little envelope attached to the back
for storage.
This one is actually a pop up book!
again, the illustrations are absolutely stunning.
I remember I read the yellow fairy book
and the red fairy book in the third grade.
I was at Barne's and Noble recently and saw this one.
Just love these covers!!
This one has my all time favorite story,
'Hansel and Gretel'
(it's the candy house that I'm in love with, I think the witch was framed)
lol
Alright...that's it for today
I'm off to make some tea and create some fairy art with Helena!
Oh and don't worry, I'm not taking up residence in tree tops or hedges to try and catch
a glimpse of fairy folk...not yet anyway!
See you in a few days:)
Do you write fairy tales? I wrote a few and have some more ideas. I sure would love to look through the Blue fairy book! What a beautiful cover. And yes...of course I believe, doesn't everyone? Sweet fairy hugs!
ReplyDeleteYes I believe you. Lovely books.:)

Perhaps leave a thimble of milk by your window? I hear they like that :)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to be doing art with your little lovebug :)
I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE!!! And I have fairy wings all over my home to prove my loyalty! teehehehehee
ReplyDeleteHello there my dear! What a fun summer, no? When we create and spread the joy, there is no other feeling that matches that. I have a dear blogger pal with whom I share a love for glitter, fairy wings and other fun things that can only exist when we make them happen. LOVE! And...thank you for visiting! Anita
Yes we, at Casa de Cuckoo, believe in, have seen and tend to our fae troupe that dwell in our faery garden. I saw one as a child and then again just after Ms. GK was born. Both Shelley and GK have seen fae at different times in their lives and Mr. Ry saw (almost bumped into one) this last June. So yes, we do believe.
ReplyDeleteLove your book collection. I should share ours someday and also our artifacts from the faery troupe, but if I did, we might loose them and I can't risk that now can I? Oma Linda
I always feel bad for not liking fairies more than I do! I have always preferred the darker side of fairy tales and the supernatural, and even though fairies and fairy art is usually beautiful, I have a hard time with the mischievous, light hearted part of things. Yup, spoken like a true morbid depressed person...
ReplyDeleteI love the fairy books. I've always loved fairies. if you see fairies its because you may be a little fay. But I do believe in spirits and I do believe that you saw an orb. I see them all the time. And I do have pics of them. When ever I have pics made by my Gazebo they are all over my face.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe fairies are tiny spirits.
XXOO Marie Antoinette
Faeries are wonderful, and I love them too. They make me smile...
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
What a FABULOUS post! I do believe, too. Every time I see a notch in a tree, I know that it is really a fairy door - and I wonder who is at home and may be watching. So I take care not to disturb anything - and only take some photos. Your books are awesome - I have a few of the Andrew Lang fairy tale books, including the blue one!
