“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Halloween fairybat

There's 71 days until Halloween!!!Let's get busy making some creepy fun decorations!!
Here's a fast, easy project.

This is what you need:
unfinished cupie doll head from Lisa Kettell's artfire shop
an old Christmas bulb
Black, purple, green ultra fine point markers
glittery black fibers/yarn
orange pipe cleaner
black acylic paint
ultra fine pastel glitter
small plastic bat
hot glue gun
glue

Directions:
add facial details with markers,
paint cupie doll hair black, while it's still wet, add glitter, set aside.
wrap fibers around base of bulb, secure with hot glue
cut two 1 1/2 inch pieces of pipe cleaner, attach to base
cut wings off plastic bat, glue to back of bulb, behind the arms
add a bit of glue to tip of bulb, hold cupie head on glue until it sets.

I think most of us have a few burnt out night light bulbs or Christmas light bulbs.
Or you can find some at thrift stores or yard sales, I found a huge container of them for 75 cents.

TIPS:
cut faces out of magazines or print some out.
Plastic bats should be readily availible right now at party supply stores or dollars stores.

House Guests

Hello!
I hope everyone has had a great week.

Ever since the announcement was made about Le Mysterieux Carnival blog party, all kinds of weird things have been happening around here.
I hear odd music in the distance...candles light up of their own accord,
strange sparkles float around....

And last night just after the witching hour, a knock at the door!!
House guests!!!

A little early, but they were so excited for the party!
They're going to be staying in my gypsy wagon for now, but you can be sure they will be performing at the carnival...
I'll introduce a couple of them to you right now...

Connie and Stanzie..The Bat sisters...all dressed up in their best dancing costume.

And Francois the Fabulous! The absolute strongest strong man ever....created:)

There are a lot more of them waiting to meet you, and after the carnival you may have a house guest of your own.
Well it's time for me to go make some snacks for them all....at least it's just hot dogs and candy apples!

see you soon.

Raising Kane

I said goodbye to my best friend yesterday.I can't express how sad we are and how beloved he was.
One hundred eleven pounds of pure, friendly, happy, lick-y, amazing dog.

We found out in May that he was ill, and nothing could be done.
His last few weeks were spent with us showing him even more love than ever, and he ate absolutely anything he wanted:)Once he started to show signs of pain we knew it was time.He passed surrounded by love, kisses and promises. He was the best dog.

He never growled or barked, unless he was told to speak or he heard singing.
I'll never sing the birthday song or buy oreos again.
I will never stop missing him.

Goodbye my good boy.

Prayer of a Pitbull

Spirit in the sky, who watches over all animals: it is my prayer and my request that you grant greater understanding, and acceptance to humans; those who love us, and those who hate us.

That they will know how loyal we are, how brave we are, and how loving we are. Help them to accept us as a breed in whole and not let the few tragedies shine brighter then the many great traits that we have.

And those who would kill me, let them know, I forgive them even though I don’t understand their hatred. And those who would beat me, let them know I still love them, even though it is not the honorable way (to treat me).

Thank you for all the strong traits that you have given to me and my breed. Help those to know that I stand for courage, strength, loyalty, and bravery, and as my master already knows, let those who would come against my family know that I would surrely die defending them.

And just one thing that I would ask: let my master know, that if you should call me away, that I will wait patiently at those pearly gates until the one who chose me comes home.

Amen.

Cookies & Stuff

Is it hot or what?
It was 106 degrees today,(it's going to be hotter tomorrow)
so Helena and I decided to bake some dashboard cookies.

They're super easy to make..
you can use prepared cookie dough, unless you want to pretend you're martha stewart:)

get a cookie sheet, put the raw cookies on it, then set it on the dashboard of your car.
they're usually ready in a couple hours, depending on how hot it is out there.
it's pretty much the only thing you can do outside in this heat...

thank goodness there's an air conditioner in my gypsy wagon, I'm almost done adding the finishing touches.... finally!
Been filling it with trinkets and treasures from yard sales, thrift stores....

and lovely artwork I've collected from a lot of you.

I want to have a itty bitty teensy reveal type party thingie soon...with big prizes and fun stuff...nothing too busy, it's much to hot for that don't you think?
and speaking of prizes..later this week I'm going to announce the winner of the fairy love potion!!!
I guess I've rambled on enough for now, have a great week-end and keep cool..
Oh!we might get some rain this week!!!!cross your fingers.

Fairy Shoe Challenge

It's time for the fairy shoe challenge at Frosted Petunias!
I hope you're ready!

What have the fairies planned for the midsummer festivities?
Let's take a peek...
We'll have to be extra quiet so as not to spook them..
We have to shimmy up a tree,
and slip behind those mushrooms..

It's all decorated!

Oh!I see dancing fairies and...

Flying fairies..

A bewitched creature twirling by a tree..

Some fairy food...

Is that a love potion?Be careful...

And underneath a flowering pomegranate tree.....

The fairy queen's shoes...

Time went by so fast!We have to go back now...the sun is coming up...

But when you get home leave me a comment and you'll have a chance at winning the fairy love potion and some other little treats:)

Thank you Anna for hosting this challenge...I can't wait till the Autumn one!
