“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Bohemian gyspy fairy house

Good-morning!
I wanted to share a little project I created this week..
I started with an old Christmas tree ornament I found in a clearance bin..
It's very large, about 15 inches tall and it's made out of a heavy metal/wire.
Really can't imagine the tree this was intended for, other than the huge department store ones.
It was bent and much of the glitter was falling off, showing the dark gray underneath.
I used a pair of wire cutters and broke off one of the little bars, to create a doorway.
Then it was time to repaint and glitter (my favorite!)
After adding silver tinsel trim, ribbon,  moss, beads, artificial flowers and a bitty chandelier,
I hot glued a broken earring to the front.
I used a couple of doll parts from Lisa Kettell's Shop.
1 frozen charlotte
1 circus tent..
After I cut the Charlotte in half, I hot glued her to the circus tent to create a full skirt.
Scrapbook paper arms and Little Birdie paper flowers (for wings) were added after I painted her dress
in a variety of  dark pink, turquoise and purple acrylics.
when she was done, I added  some highlights with gold fabric paint.
As a finishing touch I sprinkled some iridescent star glitter on her 'floor'.

I sprayed everything with a clear acrylic, so now she's safe to be outside.

What are your plans for today?
It's 60 degrees and mostly cloudy right now so
I'm going to put up some lights on the back patio and hang up some more stars:)

Hope you have a magical day!!

  1. Love the dreamy quality of it. And can't help wanting to know her story.

Today, I plan to write a bit, do some housecleaning, and if my head stops acting up, I will go for a walk in the woods.

  4. What an incredible makeover. You did good, dear. I'm looking for recycled projects, and I think this is a great one. I adore what you did, and the gypsy fairy seems to like it, too. LOVELY!!

  7. What a cute creation, I love that you gave your little fairy a circus tent skirt and flower petals wings! Great colors, too. For some reason the chandelier gives me the impression that she's fairy opera singer. (Or maybe it's because I've been binge-watching Mozart in the Jungle, ha!)
After spending an hour with my dentist this morning, I'm back to work on my messed up blog site. It's supposed to snow again tomorrow but spring is only a week away, Yay!

  9. She's beautiful and so are the colours you've chosen, and I can only imagine how much better she looks than the original Christmas ornament!
