“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Once upon a December

Guess what?
it's birthday eve for me....!
I get so ridiculously excited for the day..
and this means it's probably
YOUR un-birthday!
which also means you should get a present.
I'm going to have a giveaway and you can win
some silly stuff to celebrate your (not-birthday) day too.
just leave a comment.

I have many plans..
I'm going to wake up and let the day unfold..
I'll have Stephen King DVDs playing
hot coffee brewing
and childish excitement coursing through me.
(and frosting...lot's of frosting)

This year has been one of the most challenging I have been through in a long time.
But It has also been the most magical...
There is beauty and love in everything..everywhere..
we just have to look.
It's not always easy to find...
but it's there.

Let's recap..
my dad passed away near the eve of 2014..
In July
My daughter (and niece)
moved away to attend college in another city.
In November
one of my closest friends betrayed me and left my little girl and me alone, to fend for ourselves.
In June of this year
I had a medical emergency that required surgery and an extended hospital stay.
We've lost pets...our home..other family members
and while all of this sounds terrible..
I have to come to truly appreciate this wild, wonderful, surprising life of mine.
I have friends that I never imagined having.
amazing, inspiring, beautiful friends.
There is magic, it does exist.
I hear it when I'm watching Helena sleep and she starts giggling from a silly dream.
I see it when the moon rises and it's beauty takes my breath away.
I feel it when I read words that make my heart skip a beat.
Look for it and you will find it!

Tomorrow is a celebration for me..for my girls..
but every day should be one..even if it's itty bitty.
The more you celebrate the more you're given to celebrate.

So go, be happy, find magic, inspire others!
and love, love, love!

see you soon!

  5. OOOps sorry I missed your birthday.I'm bad about those things...I hope yours was great and it sounds as if it was. Very inspiring. Always amazing to read about the strength some women possess, and yes you are strong. We have many similarities in the exact same things; betrayal of a friend, loss, illness, and yet you find the tiniest of joys - somewhere, anywhere, you can that will help you make it through each painful day. Then the days go by, then a year and you've made it out of the darkness to a better place. But then, there are some better places every day. You're right, you just have to look for them! Peace and blessings to you my friend!

  6. I am also late to the party. Thanks for saving me a cupcake.
Sadly, reading your life was like reading my own diary - down to the betrayal and pet loss.
Remember how strong you are and be open to possibility and future happiness. I closed myself off, and would be further ahead if I let the anger go sooner. Hurt takes time. Be open to blessings.
Sending you warm hugs and smiles.
Never forget that there are still human beings that love you no matter what and will be happy for you.

  7. *hugs* I am sorry I am late, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I am so glad that you are finding positive and happy things despite everything horrible that's happened. I think lots of awful things happen all at once so we can appreciate the good things even more. I could be wrong. But it seems like that to me.

  9. Well, I'm late as per the norm, but I do hope you had a very wonderful and happy birthday my sweet friend. We are watching it storm here in Central Alabama, and many in our state are facing catastrophic flooding. The thunder is rattling the house, and my family are tired and resting. So I thought I'd take the time to let my blog friends know how special they are to me.

    Merry Christmas!
    Love,
    Ricki Jill
