“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

A Book and a Blanket...and a Mermaid

 Welcome back!

How has everyone's week been?
I swear I meant to get back on here at least
three more times, but I've been
so sleep deprived lately!!
You remember how I hurt my back in July?
Well, it's acting up again...in the form of
excruciating leg and foot cramps every single morning.
It's to the point where I'm actually afraid to go to bed
because I know how I'm going to be woken up:(
So I apologize for not visiting with you sooner.

I always get anxious when it's time for
Random number generator to pick a winner...
you know how I feel about you all!
But I'm going to be having giveaways until the new year
(December is my birthday month!!!)
so everyone will get a chance to win something for sure.
This week's winner is
send me your details please!

I'm a huge fan of fairy tales...
I can't get enough of them,
 I love Hansel and Gretel,
Snow White and Rose Red...
The little mermaid!

The book I want to share this week is called
Mermaid by Carolyn Turgeon.
I actually suggested this one about two years ago...
But it's so incredible, I wanted to talk about it again!!

It's a modern fairy tale and it's absolutely mesmerizing,
beautiful and magical.
Totally loved it!
This author has written a few books that have the fairy tale spin
to them..I enjoyed them all.
She writes in a way that just takes you there..
you feel the cold wind
and smell the sea.
I hope you get a chance to read them all.
I'll be giving away a copy of this
treasure next week..
with a blanket of course.
and extra goodies!

Yummy marshmallows

and a box of cocoa.
Leave a comment and you get a chance to win.

Hope everyone is doing great and keeping toasty.
 I'll see you soon.

Marfi

  1. Sorry to hear about your back! I threw mine out a few days ago and have had to ask my mom to run the shop for me for a few days. I was going to spend the weekend with pleasures like yummy Jul food, but instead it's been all pain and crappy sandwiches. Hope we both feel better soon!

    Here's my post this week:

  2. I recently finished reading Godmother, another viewpoint on the Cinderella story. I really enjoyed it and want to read more by her.
I am sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. The cold and damp does bring on extra aches and pains for us all I guess.

Congratulations to Tessa! She is very sweet and a wonderful blog friend.

I had hoped to get another post written this week but this one will do for today. I may get another finished later.

  6. I just put my name on the wait list for this book at my local library. Thanks for the tip. Now I'd like to share one with you. Leg cramps and even swelling can be helped by taking one turmeric capsule a day. My fibro makes it impossible not to have "Charlie horses" in my thighs, hips, lower leg and even my toes and I just take a turmeric in the morning and when I'm feeling really crampy I also take on before bed. I hope that it will work for you. I do all natural before I resort to pharmacology and this stuff can't hurt you after all it's in Indian food, mustard etc. Smooches and Squoozes, Oma Linda

  7. Hello, Sweet Friend,
Please take care of your back...that kind of pain can really define your day, week or month. I've had back problems since I was 18...a boating accident...a boat fell on me!! LOL Honest truth, but that story is left for another time.

I've seen that book at Barnes & Nobles and it has called out to me on occasion, but I'm always in such a rush to go in, get my book club book, then run out, I really do need to just spend some time and just smell the books..roses...no, books!! LOL

Have a great week, sweetie, and again, take care of yourself. As always,

    Love,
    Georigna

  8. Gracious! I won! I am totally surprised! Thank you so much. My details will come, in a reply to your mail.

So sorry about the back. I have recurring back issues too, and they are dreadful. Mmmm cramps. Anyone ever say you might need more calcium? I know, everyone has a "remedy." -grin- Sorry to probably add to many other suggestions, you've already gotten.

    And thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Forgot to mention that at one of the schools I worked at they ran a Books and Blankets program once a month ... the kids could come on a Friday evening dressed in pjs and bring a favourite blanket. There were stories to listen to followed by a movie ... along with popcorn and hot chocolate. It was a very successful program.

  12. I'm so sorry to hear about your back, that's awful! Not sure if it will help, but when I have foot cramps it really helps to load up on waster. If I drink a lot of wart, I don 't get the leg/foot cramps. I hope this helps...thank you for the book recommendation!
