“And above all,
watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you,
because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.
Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”

Raising Kane

I said goodbye to my best friend yesterday.I can't express how sad we are and how beloved he was.
One hundred eleven pounds of pure, friendly, happy, lick-y, amazing dog.

We found out in May that he was ill, and nothing could be done.
His last few weeks were spent with us showing him even more love than ever, and he ate absolutely anything he wanted:)Once he started to show signs of pain we knew it was time.He passed surrounded by love, kisses and promises. He was the best dog.

He never growled or barked, unless he was told to speak or he heard singing.
I'll never sing the birthday song or buy oreos again.
I will never stop missing him.

Goodbye my good boy.

Prayer of a Pitbull

Spirit in the sky, who watches over all animals: it is my prayer and my request that you grant greater understanding, and acceptance to humans; those who love us, and those who hate us.

That they will know how loyal we are, how brave we are, and how loving we are. Help them to accept us as a breed in whole and not let the few tragedies shine brighter then the many great traits that we have.

And those who would kill me, let them know, I forgive them even though I don’t understand their hatred. And those who would beat me, let them know I still love them, even though it is not the honorable way (to treat me).

Thank you for all the strong traits that you have given to me and my breed. Help those to know that I stand for courage, strength, loyalty, and bravery, and as my master already knows, let those who would come against my family know that I would surrely die defending them.

And just one thing that I would ask: let my master know, that if you should call me away, that I will wait patiently at those pearly gates until the one who chose me comes home.

Amen.

  1. Oh my dear. I've been there, done that. Yes I still miss my family pet members who are now gone, especially Chorizo who gave me 14 years of love and happiness. I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how you are feeling and how the heart is hurting. It's hard. As with all losses, time. It's all about time. ::prayers to you:: I'm sure Kane is with his mother and running around like a youngster. Keep the good thoughts about him at the front.

  2. I am really sorry to hear about your loss. To this day I still miss our dog Smokey. My Mom got her as a puppy a month before I was born and she passed away when I was 17. So we were very attached and it broke my heart when she passed. I am now 20 but still think about her often and all the good times we had with her. My heart goes out to you.

  4. Oh, sweet Marfi, I'm so sorry to read about your loss. I do beleive all dogs and cats and other pets go to Heaven, and we will be, someday, reunited with our furry or feathered friends. My little Chihuahua, Mr. Peanut or as we call him around here, Senor Cacahuate, has liver cancer. The vet took out a 5 lb. tumor and said that there wasn't much else that could be done...just make him comfortable. We don't know how long he has left in this world since he shows no symptoms, thus far, but when the time comes, I will be alone with him...my hubby is unable to be present during this sadness...it almost killed him the last time we had to put our sweet Brava down...he swore he could never sit through something like that again and I respect that...it's gut wrenching.

You have my sincerest sympathy and condolence for your great loss.

    xxoo,
    Georgina

What a special and beautiful boy he was.
Pits are often misunderstood and yet, I have only known them to be happy, loveable...and yes...extremely affectionate with those big wet tongues :)

    Big hugs of sympathy,
